diandrahollman: (sherlock)
[personal profile] diandrahollman
Apparently this has been kicking around Tumblr. I don't do Tumblr, but I like being able to answer questions about fandom without limiting myself to ONE fandom.

A: Your current OTP.
Sherlock/John
B: A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind.
I'm not sure because I'll basically consider anything, but I seem to think Doggett/Skinner from "X-Files" fits this description best
C:A pairing you wish you shipped, but just can't.
Any femslash pairing. I love that they're a thing and totally support the people who write them, but I just can't read or write them. I figure it has to do with fanfiction being basically like porn and, as a straight woman, it just doesn't turn me on unless there is at least one male in the mix. That being said, I did write that one M/F/F/F scene in SLaD.
D: What was the first thing you ever contributed to a fandom?
Probably some horrible "X-Files" story I'd rather forget because I was 17 when I wrote it. But I started a "Titanic" story from Cal's POV that was never published before that I think.
E: Have you added anything stupid/cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what?
See answer to D. I was young and stupid.
F: What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom? What fandom was it?
Technically I guess I'm still in the "Lost" fandom even if I'm not longer writing so...twelve years?
G: What was your first fandom?
I read stuff in "Sentinel" and "Star Trek" (I forget which version), but I didn't fully participate until X-Files.
H: Do you prefer real-life TV shows or animated TV shows?
Anything that's not reality shows TBH
I: Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
I never figured out how to use tumblr so it's had no effect.
J: Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr.
Supernatural. Although I still only think about it. I haven't tried watching it.
K: How do you feel about the other people in your current fandom(s).
Sherlock? They're impatient as all hell, but most of them seem nice enough. Some of them are a little scary, but I think both of those things might be due to them being young and new to fandom
L: Your favorite fanartist/author gives you one request, what do you ask for?
Just...more
M: A person who got you into a fandom and what fandom they pulled you in to.
Emilio Taylor: "Once Upon a Time". But see my answer for C to explain why I didn't stay long. Also, the fact that the show went off the rails a few years back and I didn't have the patience to follow it.
N: Your favorite fandom (for the people; not the thing you fangirl over).
"Lost". It could just be the people I talked to here on Livejournal (I managed to avoid certain shipper wars, though I knew they were going on), but they were the smartest, nicest bunch I have ever had the pleasure of chatting and writing with in my 15 years of fandom. I cried when the show ended not because of the show itself, but because I knew we would lose our weekly discussions and creative output.
O: Choose a song at random, what ship does it remind you of?
I recently ran across the song Congratulations on my iPod. It was tied to a picture of Sherlock and John. It was PERFECT.
P: Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
A Marvel Cinematic Universe story wherein Loki is sub to Doctor Strange's dom. SERIOUSLY, SOMEBODY WRITE THIS!!!!
Q: A ship you’ve abandoned and why.
I've abandoned "X-Files" in general, so...any of those
R: A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships.
Kate/Sayid
S: What's a headcanon you have?
Sherlock totally had a thing with Sebastian Wilkes.
T: What are your favorite male/male ships or female/female ships?
All my ships are male/male basically. As I said, I don't do much female/female, but I read a couple Sydney/Lauren from "Alias" and Kate/Claire from "Lost".
U: What are your favorite male/female ships?
Haven't read any in a while, but I really liked Sawyer/Juliet
V: Do you have any 3-way ships? If so, what?
Hi, have you met me? Mulder/Scully/Doggett, Jack/Kate/Sawyer, John/Sherlock/Mary.
W: 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms.
Sherlock, Hurley, Jack Bristow, Donna Noble, Neil Caffrey
X: 3 OTPs from 3 different fandoms.
Sherlock/John, Jack/Sawyer, Jack/Ianto (this probably also serves as my answer to T)
Y: A fandom you’re in but have no ships from.
I guess technically I'm in the Doctor Who fandom as a writer and recapper but any "ships" are cannon or ridiculous. I would ship 9 or 10 with Captain Jack though.
Z: What's a ship that you want to ship publicly, but everyone on tumblr hates it so you keep your mouth shut about it?
Even if I did Tumblr, I don't think I'd keep anything to myself for fear of others hating it. That's what tags and warnings are for. I actually have the opposite problem in that I hate a ship a whole bunch of people like but I don't say anything because they get defensive and it's not worth arguing. Sherlock/Molly. She's basically no different than the Watson of the original stories (except for not having military history or a penis) and there is no way to make them a thing without throwing all logic to the wind. It's basically the human equivalent of Beauty and the Beast. "He's horrible to me and even if he were capable of loving someone he'd probably be gay, but I can change him!"
