Goddamn Twitter

Made the mistake of checking Twitter today and instantly regretted it. Lots of screaming and fighting and a ridiculous rant about Scorsese and Coppola not liking Marvel movies because they don't pander to white boys. Did I wake up in an alternate universe or something?

I saw one post about that. It looked to me like Scorsese was right on the money, the movies are a product (love the "theme park" term) more than they are art. Granted I don't see a lot of his movies either (they also seem to have a lot of hitting and shooting?) but at least they aren't designed by a marketing committee. In the quote that was at the top of the post i saw, he didn't denigrate anyone for liking them, he just said he didn't think they were art. The "putting people down for liking them" business was all added by tumblr posters, which tells me they are projecting that like crazy in every direction. How telling. I'm not into them either, but I don't look down on people who are!

Ha, it sure is! And yes, different genres, different purposes, like not every meal you eat has to be a work of culinary genius. Sometimes you just want pizza, and pizza can be yummy.
Tumblr reacting to mainstream media "reporting", which is designed to poke you to watch you jump, is so trying sometimes. In sherlock fandom, it goes around periodically, usually now with old recycled misquotes, which people have to be reminded are not given to inform, but to elicit the reaction. All us "fandom olds" have to remind ourselves each time.

exactly! You couldn't PAY me to go on a roller coaster, but I have nothing against anyone who enjoys them!
and those interviewers, grrr! You can see the actors getting fed up with them too!
