Just realized it's 8/15 and I had planned on having a chapter to post today. Obviously that didn't happen and since I probably won't have any time for anything in the next couple weeks, I don't know when I will. :(

This show looks weird. Does anybody on my flist watch it? I'm looking for someone who can tell me at what point it starts getting good.

It hurts. And the people who spew hatred when you turn your back just because some pundit told them you were to blame for all their personal problems are cowards.

Tensions and civil wars in the middle east, dictators and possible civil war in the US and now there are major earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan. Is the whole world officially falling apart now?

The anti-democracy bill passed in Wisconsin, Ohio and possibly Indiana. We are beyond screwed. The American empire is falling fast.

Me, earlier this evening: "So, the Packers are winning. Well, they're winning so far, but it's only the third quarter. How many quarters are in a football game? Four?"

*facepalm*

Just in case my recap of "We Are Marshall" didn't make it abundantly clear that I am clueless when it comes to sports...

Well, okay, maybe I just need some sane conversation.

I'm sorry, I've been really absent and neglecting you guys lately. I've been TRYING to write fic so I at least have a reason to post, but I keep getting sucked into the Huffington Post discussion boards. Most of the people there are nice, but some are really disturbed and scary. Like the Tea Party supporters who wax poetic about how they will take over the government and people like me (who they accuse of somehow ENCOURAGING people to quit their jobs and live on welfare) will be all but outlawed. Or the guys who accuse women of being sexist bitches for suggesting that women should not be told what they can and can't do with their bodies (or at least that they should be responsible by wearing a condom and respecting a woman's right to say NO).

This seems to be happening more and more on every news site I visit in the past few months. I'm beginning to really get scared for the future of this country. It's beginning to feel like the crazy people really have become the majority. Every other news story makes me angry, makes me cry or makes me want to flee to Canada.

This was usually the point when I threw myself into Lost fandom and fanfiction. I miss being able to do that so much. I mean, I still can, to an extent, but it doesn't provide quite the same level of distraction. It really was my sanity keeper. Nothing has been able to replace it so far.

I would like to apologize, on behalf of the greater part of Minnesota, for Michele Bachmann. I mean, she wasn't even on my ballot, so it's not like I had a choice in the matter, but SOMEBODY has to apologize for unleashing Sarah Palin's less intelligent twin on the country.

I'm not sure if I should be laughing or crying at the absurd notion that she might actually run for president in 2012. Not surprising though...with her ego she'd probably make a bid for queen of the universe.

Sincerely,
Diandra

Christmas is two days away and I still have to finish some presents and wrap everything. And I'm buying a new car tomorrow. I was going to post updates to as many stories as I could for Christmas but I haven't even had time to turn on the computer. HELP!!

The tea party nutwad running for governor of Minnesota finally admitted he lost this morning! (the news will say he lost by a "narrow" margin, but that's only because Minnesota considers 10,000 votes a "narrow margin") We will have a democrat governor for the first time since I started speaking in full sentences!

The rest of the state is still pretty screwed up, but at least we have hope now that somebody will try to FIX Pawlenty's mess instead of making it worse. Which means my job, in all likelihood, is safe.

I am smiling for the first time in a month!

*pops a virtual bottle of champagne*

This round's on me, flist! I love you guys!

Made some shrimp with garlic butter noodles and parsley for dinner today... How on EARTH have I gone for 27 years without this?

On the other hand, burping garlic hours later is never pleasant...ew...

I am starting the process of shifting all of my email over to gmail. I have no idea how long this will take or if it is even possible to completely sever ties to a decade-old email account, but I will do whatever it takes to escape the political garbage/cyber bullying running rampant on yahoo.com. I'm sure I will have another post about this later.

I have already changed my livejournal settings. If anyone needs to contact me outside of livejournal, I will be at diandrahollman@gmail.com.

I really thought Minnesota would be the pillar of sanity in all the craziness last night. Instead, I woke up this morning to find that the "citizens" around me had not only voted for almost every extremist conservative they could possibly vote for, they managed to put the job I FINALLY landed just six months ago in jeopardy, they have jeopardized the careers of almost EVERYONE I know and love.

When will this madness end? I want to cry and scream and make a scene but I know the bullies who did this would just laugh at that. All I know is I can't be alone right now or I will start seriously contemplating suicide.

Seriously. That is the only explanation I can think of. Saturday was September 11, the aniversary of a terrible tragedy. Know how some idiots in my neighboorhood acknowledged such a somber occasion? By shooting off fireworks like it was the goddamn 4th of July. I'm sorry, but that is just in poor taste.

I am sitting at a table at a cute little farmhouse, looking at the Mont St Michel in the distance, the family cat crawling around on the chairs beside me purring and I just thought I'd say......Nyah Nyah Nyah! ;)

Apparently somebody found my website by searching Google for "fanfiction is like breaking into my house in the middle of the night and raping my underage daughter"?!?!

Really, Google? Really?
